Request files from clients with an upload link

Give contributors one upload destination instead of asking each person to create a new transfer account. Submissions arrive in your account; guests receive a delivery confirmation.

For producers, agencies and post-production coordinators collecting files from external contributors.

Business use only

What you need

Creating and managing upload links requires Plus or Pro. Guests can upload through your link without a yasync account. Submissions use the receiving owner’s storage allowance.

The workflow

  1. 1

    Create an upload link

Sign in to Plus or Pro, open Requests (upload links) in the dashboard, and give the link a title the client will recognize. Add an optional password for the request.

  2. 2

    Send clear collection instructions

Share the upload link and describe what to include: project name, shot or episode, file types and any delivery deadline. Guests open the link, enter its password if required and submit their files.

  3. 3

    Review or download incoming files

Downloads what arrives through your request links into a folder. In the desktop app, choose Incoming packages and a destination, or use the CLI to receive them. Keep the receiving app running for automatic incoming downloads.

CLI: create a request and receive incoming packages

yasync login
yasync upload-links --title "Client camera originals"
yasync incoming -o ./ClientUploads

Use the verified desktop and CLI downloads. CLI reference and authentication.

Before your first delivery

An upload link is different from a download link

Guests can submit through the request, but they do not receive a recipient share URL or access to other submissions. Received packages remain private to their owner. Share a separate delivery if someone else needs to download those files.

Keep control of the request

Revoke an upload link when collection is finished. Revoking blocks new submissions and further sender operations; files already received remain in your account. A downgrade also disables submissions and live receiving.

Make room before a collection day

Incoming files count against your existing account storage. Check available capacity before inviting clients to send, and keep your own working or archive copy after downloading. A request link is an intake workflow, not permanent backup.

Common questions

Do contributors need Pro or an account?

No. The receiving owner needs Plus or Pro. Guests with the upload link and its password, when set, can submit without signing up.

Can clients see each other’s uploads?

The upload link does not give senders a download capability. It returns submission confirmation; received packages remain private to the owner.
